We celebrate the lives of four women – different lives, different places, different eras, but all lives lived to the fullest.
Music from the Notebook of Anna Magdelena Bach; pieces by Fanny Mendelssohn – Hansel that she likely would have played with her much more famous brother; Songs of Bilitis, an imaginary woman from the ancient world created by Pierre Louys and put into song by Debussy; and a completely new and unique miniature opera by Diana Blom, her take on one of Sydney’s First Fleeters – Esther Abrahams/Johnston – a woman of immense mental and physical resources who came to an unfortunate end.
Performers include Hester Wilson (voice), Steve Machamer (percussion), Mary Sambell (keyboard), Diana Weston (piano, harpsichord)
